Seems like Marathi movies are stealing the thunder – but on prime-time TV debates and not where the Maharashtra government would have loved them to. <br />What sparked the debate was the govt.’s order to all multiplex theaters in Mumbai to compulsory screen a Marathi movie on one screen between 6-9 pm – cinema’s prime time. Oh! Of course, opinions, predictably, varied! <br />Now, it’s good to see they are promoting Marathi cinema, but we wanna know whether the Maharashtra government will then subsidise tickets and make it affordable for a middle-class Maharashtrian to watch a movie, say an Inox? <br />Requesting multiplexes for prime time slot for Marathi movies is one thing, but don’t you think giving orders like this leaves a bad taste?
